GROM Bomb Kids Surf Boot Camp

In March of 2023, Guahan Napu Inc. applied for and received the Guam Economic Development Assiociation grant, as part of “Prugråman Pinilan” Community Care & After School Program. The program created by Guahan Napu Inc. is called the GROM BOMB Kid’s Surf Boot Camp.

The goal and focus of this newly created GROM BOMB Kid’s Surf Boot Camp is to serve as an incubator program, to give an opportunity for up to 20 of Guam’s youth age 5-13 to experience surfing, an intro to the ocean, safety, surfing etiquette, and competition training. Kids who thrive in the program and want to advance, can continue on to keep surfing, joining local competitions, and eventually represent Guam on our National Team to surf in competitions abroad.

Though the development of this program was initially made possible by the GEDA grant funding, Guahan Napu Inc. intends to continue this program annually.  The federation also intends to develop and hold annual competitions for the youth, including those who participate in the GROM BOMB camps. The program ran from August-September and served 17 youth participants.

While the grant funding did not continue, we hope to find a solution to continue with the GROM BOMB Kids' Surf Boot Camp.
